"The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog.”
This is more so, especially to Goa, where almost every second house has a dog. But surprisingly, there is no real consensus to how dogs should be treated. In some cases, they are caged at home, creating immense frustration and aggression.
Till date, dogs have been badly treated, being tortured by little kids or men with sticks. Most people end up hating most dogs, except for the one they own.
The Mapusa Market, is one of the few places where you can buy food for dogs, such as mince and bones. Hence, the question is then, how dog friendly is the Mapusa Market?
We decided to then engage in Project Smokey to actually see what response a dog walking around in Friday Market, would evoke.
A Go Pro camera was strapped to the back of Smokey, a grey Cocker Spaniel, using the Special Mapping Mapusa Market folder as a harness. A route from the bus-stand to Café Xavier through the market, was taken and that is now what we have in our video.
